Introduction to Bellydance Series
- ON HOLD until July
20, 2010
Tuesday 6:00 - 6:50pm Students learn muscle groups used in
belly dance isolation movement, basic foot patterns, timing and
terminology essential to building a foundation in belly dance technique.
Students are required to participate begin in the Introduction class before
(or in parallel) participating in the Beginner class.
Beginner/Intermediate Bellydance Series -
4 wk series: June 22, 2010 / 8 wk series July 20, 2010
Tuesday 7:00 - 8:00pm
Each series below has a different focus or "theme" which
may include veil, finger cymbals, choreography, dance combos, arms, stamina, layering,
improvisation, drum rhythm identification, etc. Each class always includes a warm up, muscle isolation breakdown, practice and cool down.
It is presumed that students have attended at least one Introduction
series and are familiar (but not necessarily proficient) with
terminology, timing and muscle isolations. Student performance opportunities are arranged periodically throughout the year.
Advanced Bellydance Series
- 4 wk series: June 22, 2010 / 8 wk series July 20, 2010
Tuesday 8:15 - 9:30pm For the serious belly dance
student, the advanced series, like the beginner/intermediate series,
focuses on a different theme each session. Typically, the
isolation and choreography/combo work is faster, more complex, and the
warm up is longer and more intense. It is presumed hat students
can execute all isolations at half time and can travel with foot
patterns such as chasse, pas de bourre, 3 step turns, etc.
Performance opportunities are arranged periodically throughout the year
for members of the Tekatek Dance Ensemble. Instructor approval required.
